Issue – Acrobat Accessibility Checker Flags Table Summary Missing as an Error
You may encounter an error with the Acrobat Accessibility Checker. The error indicates that the Table summary is missing.
Mistmatch Between Community and Acrobat Accessibility Tool
The Table summary category is not selected by default. This default setting is due to some discussion within the community that Table summaries are unnecessary; however, the Acrobat Checker tool was not updated to skip this but rather reports an error.
What Triggers This Issue?
The Acrobat Accessibility Checker bug occurs when a category checkbox in the Accessibility Checker Options dialog box is not selected. The category check box for, “Table must have a summary”, is deselected by default when any of the following actions occur:
New PC with new install of Acrobat Reader or Professional
New version of Acrobat Reader or Professional installed to an existing PC setup
Switching views: from Classic Acrobat to New Acrobat or switching from New Acrobat to Classic Acrobat.
Solution
The “Table must have a summary” option must be manually selected in the dialog box or there will be a failure within the checker results.
Solution Notes
Once the option is selected in the dialog box, the Checker ran, and the PDF saved, the selection will persist for any other PDFs. You will not have to reset it for every PDF unless one of the actions listed above occurs.
