Mary has launched a new Resource Site for Accessible Documents

The site launched in June 2026 with 53 Word, Excel, and PowerPoint templates built to the WCAG 2.1 AA standard. The Accessible Documents shop is at etsy.com/shop/AccessibleDocuments.

Last month I wrote about how resume templates can be invisible to screen readers and assistive technologies, and launched an Etsy store to begin addressing the problem of there not being accessible resumes, cover letter and reference page templates people can start with to ensure their content can be equally accessed. That idea resonated with some people, but it also led me to a bigger question.

What about everything else?

Resumes help people get in the door. But once you are working, you will often find yourself surrounded by documents, spreadsheets, and presentations that were never designed with equal access in mind. Meeting agendas that people cannot navigate. Budget trackers with merged cells that confuse or lose a person trying to understand the data. And presentation decks without slide titles, leaving assistive technology users unable to discern the actual content, and hearing only Slide 1, Slide 2, and Slide 3 at best.

Equal access is not just a resume problem. It is an everyday workplace problem, in all of our professional documents.

Equal Access Is the Point

I want to be blunt here next. This is not a compliance project.

Compliance is a floor. Equal access is the goal.
