You may encounter a situation within a PDF where the client needs the pages renumbered to roman numerals style (i, ii, iii) in the navigation bar.

A quick method to achieve the change would be to use the Pages View.

Right click the Page Thumbnail view and select Number Pages. Use the Pages option in the dialog box.

Another tip, if you have a combined document where the client wants several separate documents, each with its own page numbering combined into one, you can include an overall footer page number using Adobe's Add Headers and Footers command.
